Lucy and Saul - November 2011The first house our team built in SLRC was for Lucy, Saul and their family. Built out of OSB plywood, their new house was connected with their original house providing electricity in both structures. We installed ceiling fans and purchased furniture for their new house. They love their home and have added another room made out of Mexican brick. Saul has helped us build houses for other families. |

Felipe and Maxi - January and April 2012When we first met Felipe and Maxi, they were living in a friend's rat infested house. They were buying property South of the Canal but did not have any money to build a house.
Felipe and Maxi's house was built in two phases. Teams built two pallet casitas in January of 2012 and a third OSB casita was built in April which connected the first two casitas together. A solar system was installed which provides electricity for their completed home. They hold Bible studies for the neighborhood in their home. Felipe works in construction and is a part of our building team. Maxi and her son sell donuts. In March of this year, they opened a bakery North of the Canal where they now have a thriving business in town. Their lives have changed dramatically since we first met them. We thank God for providing for this dear family. |

Maria Juarez - August 2012Maria works at the hospital North of the Canal as a housekeeper. She walks a great distance to work. Her husband and son are in jail. When we met her, she was living with friends and had no place to live. Pastor Adan secured a site for her home and the men of Iglesia Monte de Dios built her pallet casita.
She now has a home and a safe place to live. |

Leo and Yeny - Temo and Brenda

Anna - April 2013Anna lives very close to the Iglesia Monte de Dios church. Her original home was very small, approximately 7 feet by 7 feet. Her new home is constructed out of OSB plywood. The foundation for her home was constructed so that she has a concrete patio in front of her home. She has access to electricity and water, though she lives just South of the Canal. We were also able to give her a bed and table and chairs for her new home which were desperately needed.
She crosses the canal every day to work in a fabric store in the City. |

Mirna, Armando, Jose, Cynthia and Jesus - October 2013Mirna and Armando live with their three children just South of the Canal. It was such a joy to spend three days with them - constructing their new home on a concrete slab with a locking door and ventilating window. Mirna, Armando and their three children helped with the construction of their new home. One of the special joys of our time with them came when one of our team members purchased a new propane stove for their new home. Mirna literally jumped with joy when she saw her new stove. Their new home was provided through the generosity of OneHeart2Homes.

Pastor Jose and Pastora Maria Elena Castro - October 2013Pastor Jose and Pastora Maria Elena have been in ministry for nearly 25 years and have never had a home of their own. They Pastor Centro Familiar Cristiano El Refugio Church just North of the Canal. Their church also has a Rehab Center - El Refugio - South of the Canal at the edge of the Sonoran Desert. Their home is built in close proximity to the Rehab Center. Built out of OSB, we installed a ventilating window, locking door and solar system so they have electricity in their new home. The men from the Rehab Center helped with the construction as did Hilda's son Roberto. Their home is provided through the generosity of OneHeart2Homes.

Hector, Monse, Damaris and Manuelito - January 2014Hector and Monse and their two children are delighted with their new house. Not only did our team build their home, Pastor Adan built an outhouse for them as well. Roberto worked very hard at clearing the land. So many people came together to bless this dear family. The day after we completed construction, we moved them into their new home.
They are a special family. Hector works 7 days a week, riding his bicycle to work where he makes about $11.00/day working at the gas station. Monse is housebound because of her disability. Her only time away from home is when Pastor Adan picks her up for church. They are a very hardworking, loving family who are so grateful to God for the blessing of their new home. Thank you OneHeart2Homes for providing the funding for this family's home. A special thank you to Jack and LaVerne Upton who helped the brothers of Iglesia Monte de Dios build this home. |
Angelina - January 2014Angelina is a survivor. She is a kind, compassionate gracious lady who spends her time serving others. She lived in the United States for 22 years and has 6 children living in the United States. She was deported and found herself alone in San Luis Rio Colorado. She began taking care of a couple and works 7 days a week doing home care.
She attends Igelsia Monte de Dios. Her property is adjacent to Hector and Monse's property. She loves her new home. Thank you OneHeart2Homes for providing the funding for this safe haven for Angelina. Thank you Jack and LaVerne Upton for your labor of love helping build her home. |
Francisco, Dominga, Josaline, Julilia, Malene, Moises, Freida and Jesus - January 2014We first met this dear family during the Community Outreach in January of 2013. Dominga and Francisco were working and Josaline was taking care of her sisters and brother.
As a result of the outreach, they began attending Iglesia Monte de Dios. We were excited to build a home for this family who has such need. The building was truly a family project as the children loved to help us paint. In addition to building their home, we installed a solar system so they have lights for the first time. Thank you OneHeart2Homes who not only provided the funding for this home, but also helped build it. We are so thankful to all who helped provide a home for this family. |
Fredi, Maria de los angeles, Keila, Israin, Sair and Neftali - January 2014Fredi, Maria de los angeles and their children moved to San Luis Rio Colorado about a year ago. They have been living with his grandmother, Mother Maria Luisa, Father Felix and brother Juan and his family in a one room house.
We joined with Pastor Joel and Pastor Adan to minister to this family who has survived unbelievable circumstances. Truly, God's hand is upon them. In addition to the casita, we installed a solar system which also supports Fredi's brother's home (Juan) which is built on the lot next to Fredi's home. Through the generosity of Bob James and his family, we were able to purchase a bed and couch for this family who literally has nothing. It was a joy to be with this family. Thank you OneHeart2Homes for your generous hearts in providing not only the funding but also the labor to build this safe haven for Fredi, Maria de los angeles, Keila, Israin, Sair, and Neftali. |

Maria Luisa, Felix, Martiza, and Grandma - February 2014
Maria Luisa and Felix are Fredi and Juan's mother and father. They are a precious couple who live by faith, day by day. Since we have built their casita, they have opened a little store where they sell Coke, chips, and other snacks to their neighbors. Maria Luisa's mother lives with them. She is 90 years old and full of the joy of the Lord.
When you step on their property, you feel the presence of the Lord. Their home is a respite for many and they welcome and minister to all who come. We installed a solar system which supplies electricity to both their home and the little store. Thank you OneHeart2Homes for providing shelter and safety for this dear family. |
Juan, Viridiana, Geraldin, and Zabdi - February 2014
Juan is the son of Felix and Maria Luisa. He and his wife have two precious grils, Geraldin who is 7 and Zabdi who is 5. Juan works making tortillas North of the Canal.
They live next door to Fredi and Maria de los angeles. We were able to provide electricity to both casitas with one solar panel. This casita inside is beautifully decorated with their treasures. The girls love to play with their dolls and have tea parties. Juan loves to sing songs about the love of Jesus. They are so happy to have a place of their own. Thank you OneHeart2Homes for providing for this family. |

Martin, Susana, Kimberly and Wendy - July 2014
An amazing team from Real Life Christian Center in Tacoma, Washington came in July of 2014 to build a home for Martin and Susana and their daughters.
Martin and Susana were renting a place to live North of the Canal and were asked to move out while repairs were made on that house. They returned to find all their belongings gone and they had no place to live. They were able to put a down payment on a piece of property South of the Canal where we built them a new home. They are humble, loving people who trust God to provide for them. We installed a solar system which will provide lighting for their new home as well as their original structure. Thank you Real Life Christian Center for being the hands and feet of Jesus to this family. You guys ROCK!! |

Javier, Maribel and their children - July 2014The team from Real Life Christian Center also built a house for Javier, Maribel and their children. Javier and Maribel are the caretakers for a beautiful little church out in the middle of the desert. It was a joy to meet them and their Pastor Mario and his wife.
Javier and Maribel were living in a little room adjacent to the open air church. The church had poured a slab to extend the room. The team from Real Life Center was able to complete the addition which added nearly three more times living space for this family. We also installed a solar system which will provide lighting for their home as well as for the church. Thank you Real Life Christian Center for your labor of love. Their new home is beautiful!! |
Francesca and Moises - January 2015On a Friday afternoon, Francesca and Moises' home of 13 years burnt to the ground when an ember from the fire cooking a pot of beans ignited their home. When the fire was out, the only thing that remained were the charred remains of their family Bible.
Two weeks later, thanks to the generosity of One Heart 2 Homes, they moved into the first Compressed Earth Block Casita built in San Luis Rio Colorado. Built by the employees of Bloques de San Luis and teams from Rotary Club of the Delta and One Heart 2 Homes, this casita is really beautiful. As you can see from the photo, Moises and Francesca have "landscaped" the front of their property. They have added a bathroom to their home with Mexican brick. Moises works in the fields as a laborer and Francesca cleans a home in the city once a week. Nearby their daughter and son-in-law and grandchildren live. They are so grateful for God's provision for their family. And because their casita is built with Compressed Earth Block, they never have to worry about their home catching fire again. Truly beauty does come from the ashes. |

Ruma, Susana and Evaline - January 2015 |
One Heart 2 Homes built a casita for Ruma, Susana and Evaline.
We changed the design of the Compressed Earth Block Casita to include an indoor bathroom and small kitchen area in addition to the living area. Their home is roughly 1/3 larger than other casitas we have built. The indoor bathroom and kitchen area are a wonderful addition. Ruma was an original employee of Bloques de San Luis and was a tremendous blessing. In June, Ruma applied for and was given a job with the City of San Luis. We are so happy for Ruma and Susanna as the City job provides many more benefits for their family. Their daughter Evaline is a happy, playful little girl who is a joy to be around. They live very close to Iglesia Monte de Dios and their extended family is a blessing to the church. Thank you, One Heart 2 Homes for blessing this family! |
Cruz and Olivia - July 2015
Juanita and Jorge - September 2015
|
Real Life Family Center provided the funding and helped build a Compressed Earth Block home for Cruz and Olivia. Cruz and Olivia are a tremendous blessing to their church and are very hard working people. This casita was built on the corner of the block yard and provides not only a warm, cozy home for Olivia and Cruz but also security for the Block Yard.

Pastor Adan Garcia and the Brothers of Monte de Dios completed the casita for Juanita and Jorge. We are so grateful for our amazing partnership with One Heart 2 Homes. Juanita and Jorge now have a place to call home.

In January of 2016, a combined team from One Heart 2 Homes and Real Life Family Center built a wooden casita for Sarai and her family. It was a joy to watch her husband and sons help with the building. We were also blessed to provide this family with a bed and housewarming gifts through the generosity of our donors. Thank you One Heart 2 Homes for funding this casita for this deserving family. |

The Perez Family - February 2016

Pati and Raul built a brick casita but were unable complete it due to the span of the roof. Pastor Adan and Hearts Empowering the Poor volunteers were able to engineer and install the roof on their home. This labor of love was completed in July in triple digit temperatures. Thank you Life Center Rainier for providing the funding to complete Pati and Raul's new home. They now have shelter from the extreme temperatures of the Sonoran Desert.
