Jesus es el Pan de Vida
Jesus es el Pan de Vida (Jesus is the Bread of Life) is a soup kitchen run by a group of organized volunteers living in San Luis Rio Colorado and Somerton, Arizona. Pan de Vida sits on 10 lots - about one acre - at the very most Southern area South of the Canal in proximity to many of the families Hearts Empowering the Poor has built houses. The majority of these families around Pan de Vida have no electricity, water or sewer services.
Every Saturday, the local volunteers gather and feed between 100 and 150 children and adults. For many of these families it is the only hot meal the eat. The volunteers, through the assistance of a food bank in Somerton, Arizona, prepare a bag of groceries for each family to take home including fresh vegetables and fruits.
The volunteer group has built a large multi-purpose building, a bathroom with showers, and a large non -potable water cistern for water storage. Hearts Empowering the Poor provided the funding to get electricity to the site. Hearts Empowering the Poor, through the generosity of our donors, has also provided funding to build a commercial kitchen adjacent to the Multi-purpose Building.
